series. The following is a continuance of my previous article, Nine Websites
You Should Know About, But Probably Don't. We decided that there were
still some extremely useful websites that were left out, so I'm writing
a continuation article to cover these sites.

Genre: Instant messaging.
Why It's The Best: A one stop shop for all your instant messaging
clients - Meebo allows you to sign into all of your instant-messaging

Why It's The Best:
With all the product reviews floating around the internet, it's hard to
know who's behind these reviews. Review sites like Epinions pay their
users to write reviews, so most of these reviews are written by people
who never even bought or used the product.
On Buzzillions.com the majority of reviews are written by people who
have been verified to have actually purchased the product, so the
reviews are quality oriented, unbiased, and trustworthy. (See how the

system" where you can find products and reviews that match your user
profile, needs, and interests.
PANDORA
Genre: Music.
Why It's The Best: An easy to use and extremely accurate music
recommendations system, all you have to do is type in the name of your
favorite band or artist, and immediately the site will start playing
songs which you can thumbs up, thumbs down, or skip over. The more you
tell the system what you like and don't like, the more accurate the
recommendations will be. There's no registration and no downloads
required.

Genre: Community based lending.
Why It's The Best: Prosper is a site where you can lend people money
for an interest rate you set the minimum to and bid in increments of

Why It's The Best: Chegg.com is a site I randomly stumbled upon through
one of the founders I met through Facebook. Chegg provides a new way of
getting your college textbooks for cheap by renting them for a fraction
of their cost price. Additionally, Chegg promotes an "eco-friendly"
business model by planting a tree for each textbook rented. They have
an inventory of over 2 million book Titles.
GRANDCENTRAL
Genre: GrandCentral gives you “One number for life” which lets you
forward all your calls from any number, and answer calls at any phone
you want.
Why It's The Best: You can easily switch phones in the middle of a
phone call, screen your calls, check your voicemail by phone/email/or
online, organize/store/and record calls, customized voicemails, and a

Genre: Sells cool stuff for cheap.
Why It's The Best: Woot sells one consumer electronics product a day
until it is sold out (which is typically very fast since they offer it
at a major discount). Users can discuss the product up for sale on the
forum, and they show you all kinds of stats like percentage sales per
hour, quantity breakdown, revenue they incurred for that product, and
so on. A very fun way to get really cheap electronics!

I know some people hate writing and most people thoroughly despise routine tasks, and I know that blogging has all of that and more, but once you really start doing it you will not believe how much you end up enjoying it.
I know you are skeptical - so bear with me a moment, but blogging is about sharing ideas and most of us do that around water cooler every day anyway. Blogging is also about getting out there and getting information, hate to break it to you but we also do that quite a bit too through the television, radio, books, and the Internet. When I started blogging I knew that if I was going to keep up on it I would need to set some systems in to place to help me stay consistent and those systems would have to be cool and just a tad bit tech.
So here is where you start; you need content and unlike me you don’t want to spend half of every day looking for it so figure out what you like and what you might want to talk about now go out there and look for sources to help you.
Google Alerts; http://www.google.com/alerts put in search words set up your time frame and Google will send content rich material to your email. To keep your information organized create a folder for the alerts and a rule to direct the alerts into the folder automatically.
RSS Feeds; RSS stands for real simple syndication and most news sources like CNN, CNBC, Bloomberg, Yahoo, etc. have a way for you to sign up for their information look for the big orange box at the top of this post. Once you sign up for a RSS feed, by clicking on the orange box, you can access the information under your favorites (This is the star icon located in the top left hand corner of your web browser) on your web browser tool bar.
Feed Readers; when you find blogs and content rich websites that you can subscribe to through the RSS feed you can use a reader application and have all of your subscriptions in one handy dandy place. Some of those readers are applications for your computer NewsGator, Firefox, Safari & Pulp Fiction. There are also online readers like Google Reader, Bloglines, Pageflakes, NewsGator, Netyibes
Blog Roll; If you have blogs that you frequent often and want to link them to your blog there is something called a blog roll and you can get it for free at none other than http://www.blogrolling.com/. This website will give you the means to link other blogs to your blog site. If you have your blog through Google you can link your Google Reader to your blog page and get the same result.
Schedule a Blog; If you are on Google’s blogger.com you can use http://draft.blogger.com/ to publish a future post. Simply go to the post editor, reveal the Date and Time fields using the “Post Options” toggle and enter a post date and time that is in the future. When you click the “Publish” button, your post will become “scheduled.” When the date and time of the post arrive, your post will be automatically published to your blog. You can also cancel it if you change your mind or the post becomes irrelevant.

How Depression Harms Your Heart
There is little doubt that depression is bad for the heart. Much as fatty diets, cigarette smoking, inactivity and obesity are linked with an increased risk of heart disease, recent evidence suggests that mental health has a similarly powerful impact. The question has always been, why?

Now, researchers provide the first data that may explain the association. Published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, the findings suggest that depression contributes to heart disease indirectly - by fostering unhealthy behaviors like smoking - rather than directly. Certain biological factors linked with depression, such as inflammation and the levels of brain chemicals like serotonin, may play some role in heart health, researchers say, but the new study found that the factors that most increased heart disease risk in depressed people were the ones you might expect: lack of exercise and smoking.

"We looked at all sorts of biological markers that could potentially play a role in linking depression and heart disease," says Dr. Mary Whooley, an internist at the VA Medical Center in San Francisco, and lead author of the new study. "We measured all of those, and found that they did not explain the association. All we needed to do was to ask the patient how much they were exercising to be able to explain the link."

Whooley studied more than 1,000 patients with heart disease at the VA for nearly five years. The patients filled out regular questionnaires to determine their mood state, and were asked yearly to report on any heart-related events. Researchers took blood and urine samples to measure their levels of omega-3 fatty acids, cortisol and the inflammatory marker C-reactive protein, as well as the neurotransmitters serotonin and norepinephrine - all agents that may be involved in both depression and heart disease. In all, about 20% of the participants reported depressive symptoms; over five years, those patients had a 50% higher rate of additional heart problems, compared with their non-depressed peers.

Whooley's team studied the depressed group further. Researchers systematically adjusted for each potential risk factor to figure out whether it was mediating the link between depression and heart disease. Physiological factors, such as serotonin levels or CRP, for example, appeared not to have much impact. But when researchers adjusted for physical activity - that is, when they analyzed the data by assuming identical levels of exercise in both depressed and non-depressed patients - the difference in heart disease risk between the groups disappeared. Indeed, inactivity among the depressed patients gave them a 44% greater risk of having a heart event than people who were not depressed, accounting for nearly all of the depressed patients' 50% higher risk. Picking up the remainder of the increased risk was cigarette smoking.

The findings suggest that the effect of depression on heart health may have less to do with changes in hormones or other biochemical pathways, and more to do with behavior. Compared with other people, notes Whooley, the depressed are less healthy overall - they're less likely to exercise or take their heart medications, and are more likely to smoke. The relationship also feeds back on itself; previous studies show that exercise not only improves cardiovascular health, but also elevates mood and can ease depression.

The study may even help to explain why treating depression alone - rather than addressing patients' mental state and accompanying behavioral changes - has not proven successful in reducing the risk of heart disease. "We have always looked at certain behaviors like physical activity and smoking in isolation with respect to their effect on heart disease," says Dr. Clyde Yancy, president-elect of the American Heart Association and medical director of the heart and vascular institute at Baylor College of Medicine. "But one or both could be manifestations of depression, which in turn leads to heart disease."

And while researchers are intrigued by the question of which comes first - depression or heart disease - the study points out that, in practice, it doesn't really matter. "It's hard to tease out which came first," says Whooley. "But our bottom line is that regardless of which is coming first, this study introduces a new pathway that might get at that risk, by focusing not so much on depression itself, but by getting at the behaviors that go along with depression." It may be easier to take Prozac than to take a jog, but as the study suggests, it may not always be as effective.

1 in 5 young adults has personality disorder
Almost one in five young American adults has a personality disorder that interferes with everyday life, and even more abuse alcohol or drugs, researchers reported Monday in the most extensive study of its kind.

The disorders include problems such as obsessive or compulsive tendencies and anti-social behavior that can sometimes lead to violence. The study also found that fewer than 25 percent of college-aged Americans with mental problems get treatment.

One expert said personality disorders may be overdiagnosed. But others said the results were not surprising since previous, less rigorous evidence has suggested mental problems are common on college campuses and elsewhere.

Experts praised the study's scope — face-to-face interviews about numerous disorders with more than 5,000 young people ages 19 to 25 — and said it spotlights a problem college administrators need to address.

Study co-author Dr. Mark Olfson of Columbia University and New York State Psychiatric Institute called the widespread lack of treatment particularly worrisome. He said it should alert not only "students and parents, but also deans and people who run college mental health services about the need to extend access to treatment."

Counting substance abuse, the study found that nearly half of young people surveyed have some sort of psychiatric condition, including students and non-students.

Personality disorders were the second most common problem behind drug or alcohol abuse as a single category. The disorders include obsessive, anti-social and paranoid behaviors that are not mere quirks but actually interfere with ordinary functioning.

The study authors noted that recent tragedies such as fatal shootings at Northern Illinois University and Virginia Tech have raised awareness about the prevalence of mental illness on college campuses.

They also suggest that this age group might be particularly vulnerable.

"For many, young adulthood is characterized by the pursuit of greater educational opportunities and employment prospects, development of personal relationships, and for some, parenthood," the authors said. These circumstances, they said, can result in stress that triggers the start or recurrence of psychiatric problems.

The study was released Monday in Archives of General Psychiatry. It was based on interviews with 5,092 young adults in 2001 and 2002.

Olfson said it took time to analzye the data, including weighting the results to extrapolate national numbers. But the authors said the results would probably hold true today.

The study was funded with grants from the National Institutes of Health, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the New York Psychiatric Institute.

Dr. Sharon Hirsch, a University of Chicago psychiatrist not involved in the study, praised it for raising awareness about the problem and the high numbers of affected people who don't get help.

Imagine if more than 75 percent of diabetic college students didn't get treatment, Hirsch said. "Just think about what would be happening on our college campuses."

The results highlight the need for mental health services to be housed with other medical services on college campuses, to erase the stigma and make it more likely that people will seek help, she said.

In the study, trained interviewers, but not psychiatrists, questioned participants about symptoms. They used an assessment tool similar to criteria doctors use to diagnose mental illness.

Dr. Jerald Kay, a psychiatry professor at Wright State University and chairman of the American Psychiatric Association's college mental health committee, said the assessment tool is considered valid and more rigorous than self-reports of mental illness. He was not involved in the study.

Personality disorders showed up in similar numbers among both students and non-students, including the most common one, obsessive compulsive personality disorder. About 8 percent of young adults in both groups had this illness, which can include an extreme preoccupation with details, rules, orderliness and perfectionism.

Kay said the prevalence of personality disorders was higher than he would expect and questioned whether the condition might be overdiagnosed.

All good students have a touch of "obsessional" personality that helps them work hard to achieve. But that's different from an obsessional disorder that makes people inflexible and controlling and interferes with their lives, he explained.

Obsessive compulsive personality disorder differs from the better known OCD, or obsessive-compulsive disorder, which features repetitive actions such as hand-washing to avoid germs.

OCD is thought to affect about 2 percent of the general population. The study didn't examine OCD separately but grouped it with all anxiety disorders, seen in about 12 percent of college-aged people in the survey.

The overall rate of other disorders was also pretty similar among college students and non-students.

Substance abuse, including drug addiction, alcoholism and other drinking that interferes with school or work, affected nearly one-third of those in both groups.

Slightly more college students than non-students were problem drinkers — 20 percent versus 17 percent. And slightly more non-students had drug problems — nearly 7 percent versus 5 percent.

In both groups, about 8 percent had phobias and 7 percent had depression.

Bipolar disorder was slightly more common in non-students, affecting almost 5 percent versus about 3 percent of students.

The fifth seed sealed her third grand slam title and first Australian Open with a comfortable 7-5, 6-3 victory over Ivanovic.
m2Sharapova, aside from a few nerves in the first set when she allowed a two-game advantage to slip, overpowered her fourth-seeded opponent with a tremendous service game.
The 20-year-old Russian, who won Wimbledon in 2004 and the 2006 US Open, won more than 90 percent of her first service points and had five games in the match when she did not concede a single point on her serve.

Ivanovic, appearing in her second grand slam final, found herself under pressure on her serve with Sharapova often establishing mini-breaks before she was able to fight back.

Sharapova, who did not concede a point in her first three service games of the opening set, broke Ivanovic in the fifth game.
The Russian squandered her good work, however, and allowed Ivanovic to level before she broke a second time and took the first set 7-5.
The second set went with serve until Sharapova broke Ivanovic in the seventh game to establish a 4-3 lead and she broke again in the final game of the match to clinch victory in one hour 31 minutes.

HYDERABAD: Guidelines by the Supreme Court against employing third degree methods by finance companies for recovery of dues notwithstanding, Andhra Pradesh recorded what could perhaps be the first case of a death due to alleged torture by recovery agents.Elite Financial Services, a firm having a tie-up with ICICI Bank for recovering “bad debts” found itself in a soup after a 42-year-old man, who had taken a loan of Rs 15,000 and failed to repay it, died while in their “custody” on Friday.While the police are awaiting a post-morterm report on the death of the victim - Yadaiah - a case of “wrongful confinement” and “culpable homicide not amounting to murder” has been registered against the firm, located at Ameerpet in the city.Yadaiah's wife, Sunanda, however alleged that her husband was tortured to death. The victim was a resident of Yapral in Rangareddy district.According to Punjagutta Inspector G Narasaiah, Yadaiah, working as an electrician in Government Medical and Health Sciences department, had taken a loan of Rs 15,000 from ICICI bank sometime ago.After he failed to repay the loan, the bank, terming him a defaulter, handed over the “case” to Elite financial services. “This company has a tie-up with ICICI Bank for recovering dues,” the inspector said.On Friday morning, around 9 am, one of the executives from Elite, Raju, descended on the house of Yadaiah. As Yadaiah was away for work, Raju questioned Sunanda as to why the payment was not made and then took her husband's photograph.Later, the executive along with his henchmen, allegedly picked up Yadaiah from his office in Sultan Bazar and drove him straight to their office.Around 12.30 pm, Yadaiah called up his wife and told her to arrange Rs 15,000 at any cost. According to Sunanda's version, Yadaiah sounded scared, and asked her to arrange for the money immediately. “He said that he would not be allowed to leave if he failed to return the money and hung up,” Sunanda told the police.Around 2 pm, Sunanda received a telephone call from Maitri hospital in Sanjeevareddy Nagar that her husband was dead.“The version of Elite employees is that he collapsed due to fits in their office and died after being shifted to the hospital. There is only one injury on his forehead. We are awaiting the post-mortem report,” the Inspector said.Based on a complaint by Sunanda, the police registered cases against Raju and the management of Elite Financial Services. “If it turns out to be a case of murder, the section will be altered accordingly,” Narasaiah said. Yadaiah had two sons and a daughter.

Leander Paes – the tennis pride of India

Leander Paes (b. June 17, 1973) was born in Goa is a tennis professional currently features in the doubles events in the ATP tour and the Davis Cup tournament. He is the recipient of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 1996-97 and the Padmashri in 2001.

He won the bronze medal in 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He became the first Indian since KD Jadhav (Bronze in 1952 Helsinki Olympics) to win an individual medal for more than four decades. His father and mother were former Olympians.

Stefanie Maria Graf (b. June 14, 1969) is a former World No. 1 ranked tennis player. She won 22 Grand Slam singles titles. In December 1999, Graf was named the greatest female tennis players of the 20th century by a panel of experts assembled by the Associated Press. Tennis writer Steve Flink, in his book The Greatest Tennis Matches of the Twentieth Century, named her as the best female player of the 20th century.

Man, 73, fails 10th exams for 38th time

Jaipur, June 13: The results of Rajasthan secondary school board’s Class 10 examinations have shattered 73-year-old Shiv Charan’s dreams of getting married. A resident of Kohari village in Alwar district, over 140 kms from the State capital, Shiv Charan has been taking the Class 10 examinations for the last 38 years. The results of this year’s examination were declared on Tuesday and he has again failed to qualify.
In the early years of his life, he vowed to marry only after clearing the secondary school examination. He is yet to fulfill his promise. This time, he secured only 103 marks out of a total 600 and was not able to pass in any subject except for Sanskrit. Despite poor marks in most subjects, he blames mathematics for his dismal performance.
"Though this time, I failed in almost all the subjects but it’s the mathematics paper that always drags me a year behind my expectations," said Shiv Charan. Asked whether he would like to appear for the Open School board examinations as he has been consistently failing the Rajasthan board examinations, he replied: "I’d rather die than go back on my word. It is not in my nature to change from one board to another. I will continue taking the board examinations till I pass it".
An optimist to the core, Shiv Charan has again begun studying for the next year’s examinations. He took his first board examinations in 1969 and since then passing Class 10 has been the only goal of his life."For me, success is not merely clearing the examinations. It will also throw open the doors of marriage for me," he said. When asked which girl would he like to marry if he clears the examinations next year, Shiv Charan said, "Only a girl of below 30 years of age would be my wife". He has no regrets about the odds he faces when he goes for exams. "Sometimes invigilators throw me out of examination halls on the pretext that I am the guardian of a student."
